Emirates Road adds two lanes on 30 August: what commuters should verify

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) says it will open a 5 km expansion of Emirates Road on Sunday, 30 August 2026, for traffic travelling from Sharjah towards Wadi Al Amardi. The work adds 2 lanes and widens this section from 6 to 8 lanes. RTA says capacity will rise from 12,000 to 16,000 vehicles per hour and peak journey times on the section may fall by up to 25%. The direct users are motorists travelling from Sharjah and the Northern Emirates into Dubai on the affected approach to Wadi Al Amardi.
